Passover Activities
Seder
The seder is one of the most important things to have during passover. It includes three matzahs and the six other items are arranged in a formation dictated by their mystical significance of each other. Zeroa - a roasted chicken bone with most of the meat removed. This will represent the Passover offering. It will not be eaten. Beitzah - a hard-boiled egg, representing the festival offering.
Maror - grated horseradish (just the horseradish -- not the red stuff that has vinegar and beets added) and/or romaine lettuce, for use as the "bitter herbs.
Charoset - a paste made of apples, pears, nuts and wine. We'll be dipping the bitter herbs in this .Karpas - a bit of vegetable, such an onion or potato.
Chazeret- more bitter herbs, for use in the matzah-maror sandwich. On top of a large plate, tray or cloth place three whole matzahs, one on top of the other. It's best to use round, hand-baked shmurah matzah. Also Four glasses of kosher red wine are required at the Passover Seder, each symbolizing one of the four promises made by God.Source
Afikoman:
Afikoman (Hebrew: אֲפִיקוֹמָן, based on Greek epikomon [ἐπὶ κῶμον] or epikomion [ἐπικώμιον], meaning "that which comes after" or "dessert") is a half-piece of matzo which is broken in two during the early stages of the Passover Seder and set aside to be eaten as a dessert after the meal.In addition, when putting aside the afikoman matzah, the custom is to wrap it in some sort of cloth or napkin as a remembrance of the way the Jews left Egypt with their soon-to-be matzahs,2 as described in the Torah. In my opionion I really like finding the afikoman because its exciting.Source
